Tumblr-Inspired Fashion And Tag-Popping Tees
Whether or not ‘Internet’ is a style in an of itself is currently a hotly contested point. However, the increasing influence the online world is beginning to hold over fashion — whether via Second Life-style lookbook apps (hey Proenza Schouler!) or Karl Lagerfeld lurking Tumblr for inspiration on Chanel’s key pieces — is now undeniable.
Trend forecasting these days is basically just a matter of logging into Instagram. And the world of fashion, once the centre of a goldfish bowl to be viewed from the outside by all but a select few, is being forced to adapt to a digital terrain which favors direct engagement over aloof austerity.
These (relatively) early days are rife with the kind of experimentation that fluctuates wildly between inspired and insane, as fashion finally begins to find its feet on the web.
