FASHION: TROPICAL TREND (WHO’S JACK ONLINE JUNE 2012)
Urgh. It’s raining. A lot. It’s okay, though; just because it’s as miserable as sin outside doesn’t mean you can’t be channelling some seriously heat-inducing tropical vibes in your look.
Tropical prints are a great way to put some sun back into your summer. Eye-catching, exotic and colourful, they instantly lift any outfit and give it a sense of fun.
Any prints that evoke a sun-drenched desert island or some far-off jungle are perfect – think flamingos, tigers and palm trees. Hot oranges and reds look great against the trend’s lush greens, and you can bring a contemporary twist by pairing with a metallic cuff or some statement rings. (Gold jewellery also brightens any skin tone, which is handy if you haven’t got your tan sorted yet.)
If you’re not really a big print person, no fear – try out a splash of it out with your accessories instead. A tropical-print bag will light up even the most conservative monochromes.
It’s hard to go wrong with this trend (especially as clashing prints are in this year), so why not experiment with combining tropical styles and prints?
